Approximate cubic-yard figures assume a 7-by-16 trailer with approximately 48-inch sides. Final usable volume and legal payload are governed by the trailer manufacturer’s specifications, GVWR and safe-loading requirements. Heavy materials, appliances, mattresses, tires and other special items require advance approval. Commercial and construction quotes remain subject to the same loading, material, weight and safety requirements.

Plan Before You Load

Material Guidelines

Review the material rules before loading. Some items are accepted normally, some require advance approval and an additional charge, and others cannot be placed in the trailer.

These common nonhazardous materials are generally accepted when properly loaded and kept within package limits.

  • Household junk and clutter

All materials must be dry, nonhazardous, safely distributed and kept below the trailer’s top rail.

Clear policies help avoid surprises and make the entire rental process easier.

How large is an Iron Sage trailer?
Iron Sage currently operates a 16-foot trailer with approximately 16 cubic yards of usable volume. Actual usable capacity depends on the type, shape and weight of the materials being loaded. Future trailer sizes and options may vary as the business expands.
Does Iron Sage load the trailer?
No. Iron Sage delivers and retrieves the trailer. Customers are responsible for loading and securing their materials below the trailer’s top rail.
What materials are generally accepted?
Ordinary household junk, furniture, cardboard, wood, drywall, yard debris and approved nonhazardous renovation debris are generally accepted. All materials must be dry, safely distributed and kept below the trailer’s top rail.
Which items require advance approval?
Refrigerators, freezers, air-conditioning units, large appliances, mattresses, box springs, unusually bulky items and dense materials require advance approval. Refrigerant appliances are $125 each, ordinary large appliances are $50 each, and heavy materials require a separate quote.
What items cannot be placed in the trailer?
Iron Sage cannot accept wet paint, liquid chemicals, fuel, oil, solvents, batteries, propane cylinders, asbestos, medical waste, sharps, explosives, ammunition, fireworks, hot ashes, wet concrete, sealed liquid containers, tires or illegal hazardous materials.
What happens if prohibited material is loaded?

How long can I keep the trailer?
Quarter-Trailer and Half-Trailer packages include a 24-hour rental period. Three-Quarter-Trailer and Full-Trailer packages include a 48-hour rental period. Additional time is $100 per calendar day and must be approved before the scheduled pickup. Weekly commercial pricing is also available by request.
Do you offer commercial or construction pricing?
Yes. Weekly and recurring pricing may be available for contractors, construction projects, property managers and commercial customers. Commercial pricing is quoted based on rental duration, service frequency, location, expected material, volume and weight. The same loading, accepted-material, weight, prohibited-item and top-rail rules apply.
Do I need to be present for delivery?
Not always. Unattended delivery may be available when payment and the rental agreement are complete, access is clear and Iron Sage has written placement instructions. Someone may be required to be present when site access or placement is unclear.
What happens if I exceed my package?
If the load exceeds the selected volume percentage, the applicable higher-volume package price applies. Weight above the included allowance is charged at $100 for each additional 500 pounds, or portion thereof.
How full can the trailer be loaded?
Materials must remain below the top rail, may not extend beyond the sides or rear and must be distributed safely. Unsafe or overfilled loads must be corrected before pickup.
